Dental implants do not hurt, since local anesthesia will be administered before surgery. After the surgery, however, you may experience some pain once the effect of the anesthesia wears off. Generally, a few pain killers is all that is needed to relieve the pain.
After the surgery, your face or gums feel stiff and sore. Swelling may also cause the jaw or lips to be numb for several days. Still, there’s no need worry. These symptoms are not very painful and will subside shortly.
No, dental implants are made of titanium, forming TO2 on the surface in air, water and other electrolyte by itself. Dental implants are not harmful to the human body.
Yes, old patients can undergo implant surgery. Patients are advised to undergo implants surgery as soon as possible. The sooner the patient decide to do dental implants, the better the bone condition, the bone volume, and the width and depth of bone where the implant will be placed. We have successfully completed dental implant surgery for many patients; young and old. If you have any concerns, please make an appointment during which you will be thoroughly examined and all aspects will be discussed.
Although the initial costs of dental implants are high, dental implants are semi-permanent. Thus, they are actually cheaper because no additional cos is incurred. In contrast, although the initial of dentures is lower than that of implant, additional cost is incurred later.
The treatment period of dental implants usually takes 2-3 months until the periodontal bones and implant are fixed firmly and the prosthesis is mounted. The period could be extended to 6-9 months depending on the condition of the jaw bones and mouth, chewing strength and difference in the implant system. However, the development of a variety of implant methods and systems have shortened the treatment period.
From 1975 to 2004, the success rate of dental implants ranged between 90% to 100% according to a clinical study (Immediate and early implant loading protocols: a literature review of clinical studies. J Prosthet Dent. 2005). There are a variety of factors that have an influence on the success rate such as:
General health concerns: Patients with osteoporosis, a compromised immune system, a history of radiation treatment or that are smokers may have issues with the effectiveness of dental implants.
Local factors: These include bone quantity, bone quality and the initial stability of the implant when it was first placed. There may also be some bite-related concerns based on the amount of stress that you place on the implants. Patients that grind or clench their teeth could affect the long-term success of the implants.
Maintenance issues: While dental implants can be highly effective, they do require maintenance. Dental implants need to be cleaned daily just like regular teeth or they will break down.
Many people do not visit a dentist regularly. They only go when they have a problem. We learnt that patients feel they are saving money that way, however it often ends up costing much more money and time if preventive treatments are neglected.
For example, a patient that has tooth decay may not be aware of it. Tooth decay often does not hurt until it gets close to the nerve of the tooth. Our dentists can detect problems early, before they develop any symptoms. That way, root canal treatment can be prevented and a lot of costs can be saved.
We accept cash payments or payments via card (Visa, MasterCard, Smartlink, Banknetvn, JCB, UnionPay among others). Moreover, we’re currently setting up direct billing agreements with numerous insurance companies to offer our patients the most convenient service.
We do not publish fee schedules. It is very difficult to quote a fee before consultation because all patients have unique needs. Fees will be discussed during your consultation.
